About Us
Oxbridge Term is based on the practice, widespread until a few years ago, for the very best students in a school to return for one more term to prepare for the fiercely competitive Oxford and Cambridge admissions process. Schools would take their ablest students and polish up their thinking and reasoning skills to a high gleam of brilliance. They would also go well beyond the A-level curriculum to broaden the frame of reference so that students could draw widely from literature and history to address interview and essay questions with panache and erudition.
Schools have stopped this practice, but many people find that an extra term of specialist preparation brings hidden treasure to the surface. It is also invaluable for overseas applicants who benefit from Oxbridge Term's intimate understanding of the Universities' admissions criteria, and from our expert guidance in preparing to satisfy those requirements. Some students who already hold an offer for university decide to spend some of their Gap Year with Oxbridge Term, proving that there is time for bungy-jumping in New Zealand, back-packing in Nepal, and an enriching educational experience.
But it's not all work and no play. Our students get involved in all sorts of cultural, sporting and entertainment opportunities, from guided tours of the world-class collections in Oxford's Ashmolean Museum and Christ Church Picture Gallery, to competitive football, tennis, and cricket matches; from picnics at Blenheim Palace to tutored wine tastings of the Grands Vins of Burgundy and Bordeaux.
Our students also usually incorporate a part-time internship with their studies, which Oxbridge Term can arrange for before, during or after your term in Oxford. This allows you to get a taste of a career you may be contemplating pursuing after university. Recently this has included an internship with a world-famous economist, a position at public policy think tank in London, research for a Member of Parliament, and an assignment in Kenya.
We are based in the beautiful medieval university town of Oxford, and in the Oxfordshire countryside. We provide residential and non-residential programmes.
Why not get in touch to find out more. We would love to hear from you.
